Inn Appreciation Volunteer Luncheon 2010
On April 24th, the Inn from the Cold celebrated their very first Inn Appreciation Volunteer Luncheon. This event was centered around the amazing work and countless hours that our dedicated volunteers put in on a regular basis. Our large volunteer base of 6,000+ is the very heart and soul of our organization and Inn from the Cold staff is committed to expressing their gratitude throughout the year.
The event began with a brilliance of color and sound as the Aboriginal Friendship Centre’s dancers and singers/drummers began their performance. The performers not only showcased their amazing talent but also shared with us the significance of their dance and music to inspire cultural healing and renewal of the Aboriginal people. Afterwards, lunch was served, made with love by some of our amazing Inn from the Cold staff and volunteers. This was followed by a heartfelt interview with a former guest and Family Support Worker along with a thank you speech directed to our volunteers from our Executive Director, Yvette Rasmussen. The event concluded with a powerful speech and poem
‘Earth-Bound Angels’ delivered by Virginia Mccorkle, a former guest here at Inn from the Cold.
