Home for the Holidays

We are asking you to help us give the gift of home this holiday season. 70% of Inn from the Cold’s funding comes from community donations, and this holiday season we are hoping to raise $2,000,000 to cover operational and support costs due to increased demand.
By donating this year, your money will give our guests access to emergency family shelter, basic needs, health and wellness services, early childhood development, access to education and career training, supportive housing, and so much more. For most of 2018, we’ve been operating at/over capacity 89% of the time and we need the greater Calgary community’s support in order to continue meeting demand for children and families experiencing homelessness in our city.
Our goal this holiday season is to help as many families as possible move into safe and stable housing. To help bring a family Home for the Holidays is Christmas, click here:

Meet Ramona and Nathan

Ramona and Nathan and their children are one of the families that recently stayed in our Emergency Family Shelter and are now staying in Journey House 2, one of Inn from the Cold’s permanent supportive housing buildings. They came to the Inn for a fresh start and their journey home has been incredible. You can help families like Ramona and Nathan’s by making a gift to the Inn this holiday season. Your support means homeless families and children can regain a sense of normalcy and can thrive. Watch our YouTube video here.

Ways to Give

Why Your Holiday Donations Really Matter – And It’s Not What You Might Think

Earlier this week we published a blog post featuring an interview with the Inn’s Director of Resource Development, Joelle Mar. Joelle and her team work hard to secure donations from people like you to help homeless families exit homelessness and find a place to call home. While the holidays can produce a lot of financial and emotional stress for many families, that isn’t the main reason your contributions matter so much during the holidays. To find out the impact your donations truly have, read our recent interview by clicking here.

Circles of Hope 2018 – Every child needs a hero RECAP

This year at our Circles of Hope conference, thank you to all the speakers, agencies, volunteers and attendees who made it such a special day! We will have more news on Circles of Hope 2019 in the New Year. Read a recap of the event, view the gallery and watch the video here.
We are already planning next year’s Circles of Hope. Stay tuned for an announcement in early 2019.

Gifts That Give Back

This year, we’ve had a great response to our holiday initiatives including the Adopt-A-Family program and our open house on December 8th where Calgarians visited the Inn for a first-hand experience of the emergency shelter. If you missed out on these programs, are keen to get involved and find meaningful gifts, here are a few ideas that give back.

Sunterra Thank Our Lucky Stars Cookies

Until the end of December, Thank Our Lucky Stars cookies are available from Sunterra for $5 and $2.50 will be donated back to the Inn. Not only are they delicious and a perfect host gift or stocking stuffer, but you can feel good about indulging in them too! Cookie purchases can be made at any Sunterra store or online. Last year approximately $53,655 was raised to help children and families experiencing homelessness. Read more about them here.

Monogram Coffee Holiday Roast

Monogram Coffee’s Holiday Roast in collaboration with Calgary jazz musician Ellen Doty is back. Each bag is $20 and includes a free download code for Ellen's song, "Already Home”. The best part is that $5 from every bag sold will be donated to the Inn. Another great stocking stuffer or party gift, purchase yours today here.

Kaizen Automotive

Our friends at Kaizen Automotive Group are running ‘Stuff the Truck’ in support of the Inn. They are collecting critical needs items at their Shaw GMC, CMP GM, Country Hills Nissan, or Country Hills Hyundai locations to help families and young children in need. All dealership locations are listed on their website here.
