Home for the Holidays

Early last week we kicked off our annual holiday campaign and this year’s theme is “Home for the Holidays”. But what does that really mean? Well, to start, we are hoping to raise $2,000,000 to cover operational and support costs related to the Inn due to increased demand. In 2018 we’ve been operating at/over capacity 89% of the time, despite reports that homelessness in our city is decreasing.
By donating this year, your money will help provide emergency family shelter, basic needs, health and wellness services, early childhood development, access to education and career training, supportive housing, and so much more. All our procedures and services are steps needed to help get families experiencing homelessness into safe and stable housing.

Giving Tuesday

Tuesday, November, 27th is Giving Tuesday, a global movement for giving and volunteering. During this season of retail, Giving Tuesday reminds us that we can have a big impact in our community by uniting individuals in the name of generosity and kindness. Sign up for a volunteer shift, become a supporter, follow our mission on social media or start a campaign. Everyone can make an impact in creating a community where no child or family is homeless.

Ways to Give

Baby, It’s Cold Outside

With winter upon us, we are in need of new winter jackets and boots for men, women, and children of all ages and sizes. With Black Friday happening tomorrow, it’s the perfect time to take advantage of the savings if you are able to make a donation. Donations are accepted at our Emergency Family Shelter located at #106, 110-11thAve SE. If you have any questions about donations, please email Cindy at

INNformation Report Series: Immigrant Homelessness

Our INNformation Series is currently focused on Immigrant Homelessness in our city. This population makes up 20% of guests that stay at the Inn. Immigrant and newcomer families face a whole list of barriers and obstacles that are unique to their situation and that must be addressed in order to get them into safe and affordable housing. To watch our recent episode on Immigrant Homelessness, click here.

Our Adopt-a-Family program filled up fast this year, however, there are other ways to get involved this Christmas. The first is to become Santa’s helper and donate to our Gift Shop until December 15th. Shelter guests can visit the shop to pick gifts, so no family member or child goes without on Christmas morning.
You can also sponsor a meal or join our Open House on December 8th. We invite you to join us anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for an introduction to the Inn. There will also be live music, a visit from Santa, holiday activities and light refreshments for you and your family to enjoy while experiencing how we welcome and help shelter guests first hand.

Lucky Stars Cookies Are Back

Starting November 30th, purchase the "Thank Our Lucky Stars" cookies from Sunterra for $5 and $2.50 will be donated back to the Inn. Last year approximately $53,655 was raised to help children and families experiencing homelessness. Not only are they delicious and a perfect host gift, but you can feel good about indulging in them too. Cookie purchases can be made at any Sunterra store or online. Read more about them here.
