It is with great pleasure that I introduce two new directors to the Inn from the Cold leadership team: Louise Gallagher, Director, Communications and Stakeholder Relations, and Joelle Mar, Director, Resource Development. The addition of Louise and Joelle to our team strengthens the Inn and will help us achieve our vision of ending family homelessness in Calgary as we care for vulnerable children and families. Please take a moment to read about Louise’s and Joelle’s experience.
Louise Gallagher, Director, Communications & Stakeholder Relations
Louise’s career path has taken her through Calgary’s corporate hallways in the areas of communication and investor relations to not-for-profit resource development and communications. She has worked in the homeless-serving sector for more than 11 years. Louise joins the Inn after four and a half years with the Calgary Homeless Foundation and prior to that six years as the Director Public Relations and Volunteer Services at the Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre. Louise acts on her passion every day to inspire social activism and change so that everyone, including Calgary’s most vulnerable, can experience Calgary’s greatness.
Louise can be found every week-day morning online at her blog Dare Boldly (www.darebholdly.com), where she writes about living life with passion, authenticity and compassion. Louise’s vision is to inspire everyone to remember their magnificence so that together we can create a kinder, more compassionate and loving world.
Joelle Mar, Director, Resource Development
Joelle returns to us from the Calgary Jewish Academy (CJA). Many of you may have already met her as she worked at the Inn from 2013 – 2015 in Resource Development in the capacity of Development Manager. Joelle has more than 18 years of marketing and communications experience and possess deep knowledge and success in fund development, event management, sponsorship and major gift donations. Throughout her career Joelle has worked with many notable companies such as SMED International, SuperPages, Centennial Foods, Maple Leaf Consumer Foods and Solex Thermal Science. As Director, Resource Development Joelle will be responsible for all fundraising activities of Inn from the Cold.
Joelle was born and raised in Calgary and is a wife and mother of three. She is an avid volunteer who is passionate about giving back to her community. She has volunteered for several years as a Crisis Volunteer at the Calgary Distress Centre, Kids Cancer Care Foundation as well as the Alberta Mentoring Foundation for Youth (AMFY).
Please join me in welcoming Louise and Joelle to the leadership team of Inn from the Cold. I would also be thrilled to facilitate a meeting with either Joelle or Louise for any the Inn’s supporters.
