Supporting Families in Our Family Shelter
This year, 128 families accessed our shelter, receiving not only a safe place to stay but wrap-around supports tailored to their unique needs. Through housing-focused case management, wellness supports and community connections, families are met with care on their journeys toward stability and independence.
Excellence in Care with Canadian Accreditation Council
Inn from the Cold achieved 100 per cent compliance through the Canadian Accreditation Council, leading standards for shelter and government and management. As a result, The Inn is now accredited for three years under these standards. This milestone reflects our commitment to providing safe, effective and high-quality programs rooted in best practices and continuous improvement, helping families feel confident they are in a place of safety, stability and hope during their time with us.
A Workplace Where People Thrive
We are proud to be named one of HRD Canada’s Best Workplaces in 2025. Our 87% employee satisfaction rating reflects a workplace culture where staff feel supported, valued and aligned with our mission at The Inn. Caring for families begins with caring for the team members who walk alongside them every day in their housing journey. We are grateful to be recognized with this achievement.
Charity Intelligence Top 100
We are deeply honoured by this recognition from Charity Intelligence Canada for the second year in a row, including being ranked among Canada’s top five charities serving families experiencing housing instability.
Expanding Housing with Recovery Supports (HRS)
With funding from the Calgary Homeless Foundation and the Government of Alberta, our Housing with Recovery Supports program expanded in 2025. This investment allowed us to provide case management supports to an additional 25 families, bringing the total to 65 families supported through this program.
Growing Our Shelter Capacity
Responding to the urgent need for family shelter, 12 additional shelter units became available this year. As we continue to grow, we have also hired additional staff and improved our triage processes to support the increase in families staying in shelter. This expansion means more families experiencing homelessness have access to safe, welcoming spaces and the supports needed to move forward.
One Year with Emma House
We marked one year since Emma House joined Inn from the Cold. During this first year, we hosted our inaugural M-Power Brunch, raising more than $79,000 to strengthen critical programming and supports, and increasing access of services to expectant mothers experiencing homelessness.
Unaddressed Research Project
This year also saw continued progress on the Unaddressed research project, a multi-year partnership with The Women’s Centre of Calgary, YW Calgary, Vibrant Communities Calgary, Miskanawah, and the Women’s National Housing and Homelessness Network aims to address hidden homelessness through a gender-equity lens.
The Unaddressed final report will be released January 28, 2026, to assist in improving policies and systems that reflect real experiences and meet the real needs of women and gender diverse individuals experiencing homelessness.
Calgary Food Bank Joins Neoma
We were pleased to welcome the Calgary Food Bank as a new neighbour at the Neoma building, expanding access to food supports and resources for Calgarians where they need them most.
Standing Together at Pride Parade
We had the honour of participating in the Calgary Pride Parade, showing our support for 2SLGBTQIA+ families, friends, community members, and team members, and reaffirming our commitment to creating inclusive, affirming spaces for everyone at The Inn.
Recognizing Excellence: Employee of the Year
We were honoured to recognize Zoe Stephens as Employee of the Year for her kindness and thoughtful approach to everything she does for the families at The Inn. Every day, Zoe shows up and ensures that every family is met with dignity and compassion.
Thank you, Zoe, for all you do for the families we serve!
Looking Ahead
As we reflect on 2025, we are proud of the progress made and are ready to continue our mission further into the coming year ahead. The need for family shelter and housing supports remains urgent, but so does our resolve. With the continued support of our community, partners and dedicated staff, Inn from the Cold will keep building pathways to stability, safety and hope for families facing homelessness.
Thank you for your continued support of the families we serve. Together, we will keep helping children and families who need us most into 2026!
