HELPING FAMILIES, HELP THEMSELVES
Need immediate help, housing help or assistance with other supports and programs? If you are a family in need, reach out and we can get started.
Volunteers are active on the frontlines and behind the scenes at Inn from the Cold. Whether you’re looking for a long-term or short-term commitment, enjoy working with children, rolling up your sleeves in the kitchen or prefer the allure of special events, Inn from the Cold has a place for you.
Inn from the Cold’s commitment to reconciliation starts with acknowledging our immense honour and privilege of living and working within the Treaty 7 region.
We recognize that the Blackfoot name of this place, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, is Moh’kinstsis (MOH-kin-stiss) which we now call the city of Calgary.
We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the traditional and ancestral territory and oral practices of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta. This includes: the Blackfoot Confederacy, made up of the Siksika (Seeg-see-kah), Piikani (Pee-gah-nee), and Kainai (G-ai-nah) First Nations; the Stoney (Îyâxe) Nakoda First Nations, comprised of the Chiniki (Chin-ick-ee), Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations; and the Tsuut’ina (Soot-tenna) First Nation. The city of Calgary is also the homeland of the historic Northwest Métis and to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.
We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries.
