This cheery season is the perfect time to give back to those in your community who need it most. Below are five ways you can help homeless children and families in Calgary this spring.
Volunteer
Volunteering your time and talent is a wonderful way to give back to your community. Volunteering allows you to be directly involved with the Inn, whether you are interested in administrative help, or would rather prepare and serve lunches. Donate
Last year we provided care to over 500 children experiencing homelessness. Your donation dollars make a huge difference in helping us to continue making lasting change for the children and families we serve. Give Goods
At any given time, we have 20-30 families staying in our emergency shelter. These families are in crisis and regularly require items to meet their basic needs, such as clothing, diapers, toothpaste, soap, and more. Donated goods are vital to the Inn and the success of the families staying with us, and we often have a list of items in urgent need on our website. Donation items may be dropped off at our emergency shelter, and our full wish list can be found here. *Please note, we are only able to accept NEW items due to health and safety policies.
Fundraise
Another wonderful way to give back is to host a fundraiser! You might choose to collect pledges for a race, sell cookies at your school, or rally your coworkers to participate in a chili cook-off! For more fundraiser options, check out this guide with over 100 unique ideas.
Sponsor a Meal
Make a direct impact on the families staying at Inn from the Cold by sponsoring a meal. From continental breakfast to afternoon snacks to pasta dinners, we provided over 120,000 meals in 2018 and couldn’t have done it without the help of generous Calgarians.
