Special entertainment, keynote speeches, and a report to the community in honour of a transformative year.

September 6, 2022 (Calgary, AB) –

Since 2008, Inn from the Cold has proudly called the Beltline community home, but this October, the organization will be moving to a new location in the heart of downtown Calgary. This move, while bittersweet, will open doors for the organization to better serve families in a trauma-informed designed space amid a growing need for its services while the cost of living continues to skyrocket nationwide.

When the doors to the building first opened more than a decade ago, the Beltline location provided something critical, Calgary’s first Emergency Family Shelter. Today, in addition to its essential services, the building also holds memories for countless Calgarians, having served 4,700 families on their journey to housing independence. When speaking of their time at Inn from the Cold, a former Inn client says, “If it wasn’t for the Inn, I am not sure where myself and my family would be. The shelter was our safe haven and the Inn gave our family a renewed sense of hope.”

“This celebration is an opportunity to look back on the highlights, impact, and memorable moments that has defined Inn from the Cold’s time in this community. It makes sense that an organization that’s for the community involves the community when it comes to saying our goodbyes,” says Nathaniel Miller, Director of Programs at Inn from the Cold.

Inn from the Cold invites community members to attend its Report to the Community & Farewell Community BBQ on Tuesday, September 13 from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm.

Taking place in the parking lot adjacent to Inn from the Cold (115 11 Ave SE), this event will include remarks by Inn from the Cold Leadership, special entertainment, and complimentary BBQ.

Individuals wishing to attend the celebration are encouraged to RSVP here by September 9.
