In 2023, 927 volunteers contributed to The Inn’s mission. Outnumbering staff by 11 to 1, volunteers are a significant driving force behind many of The Inn’s programs and services.
National Volunteer Week falls on April 14 – 20, 2024. This year’s slogan is “Every moment matters,” and Inn volunteers embody this, whether they are plating a hot meal; helping facilitate cultural activities; or making thank-you calls to donors.
Dennis, an engineer by day and volunteer by night, makes every moment matter when he helps Mateo* with his math homework every week.
Kathy, a freelance copyeditor, uses her super-human attention to detail to log volunteer hours; proof documents; and create efficient systems that work for the administrative team.
Chris brings his colleagues to serve alongside him month after month, serving hot dinners to families staying in our family shelter.
Faith and Hunter help the kitchen staff prepare nutritious and culturally diverse meals for the families. In addition, Faith, an administrator by profession, walks over to The Inn after work every other week, to help The Inn with yet even more administrative tasks!
Don jumps in where needed, whether facilitating birthday parties for the kids (the ball pit is his highlight); childminding so that parents can attend much-needed medical appointments; or plugging away at scanning and filing.
Emily and her kids create thoughtful and imaginative goodie bags for the children who stay in our family shelter. These activities not only bring joy to the kids but also help their literacy and fine motor skills.
Cheers to our volunteers, who remind us and inspire us to make every moment matter! If you’re interested in becoming part of our INNcredible team of volunteers, you can explore the volunteer opportunities available by visiting https://innfromthecold.org/volunteer/.
