We are excited to see Reindeer for a Reason back for the 5th annual year!
What started out five years ago as a grade five math project with father and son duo Al and Kerry Williams, has turned into a micro-social venture involving the whole William’s family building and selling wooden reindeer.
The family has been both surprised and delighted with the success of the reindeer sales. Since the project’s inception, nearly $25,000 has been raised for Inn from the Cold. The project has been so popular that it even garnered international attention last year, when it was featured on ABC’s Live with Kelly & Ryan!
“As a family, we are incredibly fortunate to have a safe place to call home and so much more,” said Jo Williams. “We wanted this project to be a family-to-family initiative that would benefit those who face housing crises, so Inn from the Cold was a natural fit. This project engages our entire family in the process of the important act of giving and hopefully inspires other families as well.”
The reindeer herd is healthy and bigger than ever with 100 adorable reindeer looking for new homes. Thank you to a host of supporters this year for donating materials and skills to create these magical creatures. Including some amazing local artists who have been busy behind the scenes creating truly unique reindeer art.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Williams Family for the continued support through the Reindeer for a Reason fundraiser,” says Heather Morley, Executive Director at Inn from the Cold. “We rely on community giving for over 70% of our operating funds, and in a year where demand for our services only continues to grow, the money raised will make a world of difference to families facing a housing crisis this holiday season.”
Sales will launch on November 30th . Each one-of-a-kind reindeer is lovingly handcrafted and uniquely decorated to suit its personality and they are available for $155 on a first-come, first-served basis. The Signature Artist Line created by local artists will be auctioned on Facebook from December 1-5.
This year’s goal is to raise over $15,000 for Inn From the Cold.
